Grief Care

Grief Care is a ten-week program for anyone 18 years or older who is grieving the death of a family member or friend. Whether your loss is recent or from years past, this group provides a supportive space to process your experience.

Each week explores a different aspect of grief, building upon the previous sessions. The format is interactive, and participants are invited to engage with the content at their own pace and comfort level.

Grief doesn't follow a schedule, and it doesn't simply disappear—but through shared stories, compassionate community, and practical tools, we hope to help you take steps forward with purpose and hope.

The Origin Story…

Grief Care Canada was launched by Ruth Whitt in 2020 at Northridge Community Church in Aurora, Ontario. It was birthed out of Ruth’s personal and professional experience with grief and a deep desire to help others find comfort and renewed purpose in life. A former critical care RN and minister’s wife, Ruth holds a Certificate in Thanatology (the study of death, dying and grief) and is completing a master’s degree in Thanatology at Tyndale University. The program is based on sound research by psychotherapists, counselors, theologians, and others who have written about personal grief. Ruth also trains facilitators for support groups at other locations.
